Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ClearCost mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”) operated by ClearCost (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By downloading or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. The Service is intended for use in the United States only.

2. Description of Service

ClearCost is a healthcare price transparency tool that helps you search for and compare estimated procedure costs at hospitals and providers near you. Cost estimates are sourced from publicly available machine-readable files published by insurers and hospitals under federal transparency regulations. These estimates are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a guarantee of actual charges or benefits.

3. Accounts

You may need to create an account to access certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@clearcost.app if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

ClearCost offers an auto-renewable subscription (“ClearCost Pro”) that raises the free limits: unlimited price watches and unlimited saved procedures, plus weekly automated checks with an email when a price drops. Searching prices, finding low-cost care, scanning bills, and seeing what your plan negotiated are free and are not gated by a subscription.

  • Subscription name: ClearCost Pro
  • Subscription length: Monthly (renews every month) or annual
  • Price: $4.99 per month or $44.99 per year (or local equivalent as shown at time of purchase)
  • Free trial: A 7-day free trial may be offered to new subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged the subscription price.
  • Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain Pro access until then.
  • Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store policies.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app

6. Medical Disclaimer

The Service does not provide medical advice. Cost estimates are based on publicly available data and may not reflect your actual out-of-pocket costs, which depend on your specific insurance plan, deductible, network status, and provider billing practices. Always consult your insurer and provider for accurate cost information before receiving care.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by ClearCost and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT COST ESTIMATES WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLEARCOST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections 6–9 and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the app and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
