About ClearCost
ClearCost helps you find real prices for medical care near you — whether or not you have insurance. If you have a plan, you can see what it has negotiated with each hospital. If you don't, we point you to clinics that charge based on what you can afford.
Price data comes from federal Transparency in Coverage machine-readable files that insurers are required to publish, and from hospital chargemaster files. We process and index this data so you can search it instantly.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the prices?
Prices are sourced directly from insurer transparency files published under the federal Transparency in Coverage rule. They reflect the rate your specific insurance plan has negotiated with each hospital. Your actual bill may vary if your deductible has not been met, if additional services are performed, or if the negotiated rate has changed since the file was published. Always confirm final costs with your provider and insurer.
Why isn't my insurance plan listed?
We currently support several major insurers including UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, with more being added regularly. If your plan isn't listed yet, you can still search prices and find low-cost care near you. Contact us if you'd like to request your plan.
I don't have insurance. Can I still use ClearCost?
Yes, and it's free. Find care lists community health centers and free clinics near you. Many charge based on your income and see you regardless of your ability to pay.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Settings tab in the app and scroll to “Delete Account.” This permanently removes your account and all saved data. If you need help, email us at support@clearcost.app.
What does a ClearCost subscription include?
Every price we have is free, along with finding low-cost care, scanning as many bills as you need, and seeing what your plan negotiated. Pro raises the limits: unlimited price watches instead of one, unlimited saved procedures, and weekly automated checks that email you when a price drops. See pricing.
