About this procedure
A two-view chest X-ray — imaging of your lungs, heart, and ribs from the front and side. Common for cough, chest pain, or before surgery.
What to expect
Takes 5-10 minutes. You'll stand against an imaging plate, hold your breath briefly for each view, and you're done. No prep needed. Wear a top without metal buttons or zippers if possible. Radiation dose is low — equivalent to a few days of natural background exposure.
