An MRI of the brain with and without contrast — the most thorough brain scan, used for headaches with red flags, seizures, or known neurological conditions.
What to expect
45-60 minutes total. You'll get an IV for contrast partway through. Sit still — small head movements blur the images. Tell the tech about any kidney issues; contrast is processed by the kidneys. Plan to be at the facility for 90 minutes door-to-door.
